My Top Five Political Romances

Hey everyone,

As you may know, last night was the 2015 General Election in the UK and yes I was one of those sad people who stayed up all night to watch the results roll-in. Therefore at the moment my mind is a little worst for wear due to lack of sleep and politically focused. So I thought it would be fun to compile a list of my favourite romances that feature politics or have a political figure as the hero or heroine.

Despite being inspired by the UK Election all the books on my list are actually set in the USA, I was a little disappointed to discover I had never read a UK set Political Romance, or even a non-USA set Political Romance, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles my friends. Now on with the list!

5. Night Swimming by Laura Moore

Childhood enemies Lily and Sean are reunited in their home-town over its coral reef. Lily, a marine biologist, is on a mission to preserve the reefs. Sean is the local mayor determined to protect the town’s natural beauty. Forced to work closely together for the good of the town sparks soon start to fly, but will Lily stick around once her mission is complete?

4. The Kept Woman by Susan Donovan

.
After a string of bad luck Samantha Monroe is left with few friends and fewer options so when bad-boy politican Jack Tolliver throws a life-line how could she refuse. After all six months pretending to be his finance and play happy families shouldn’t be that complicated, right?

3. Fifteen Shades of Gay by T. Baggins

Andrew Reynolds is an out-work actor in need of money, and after discovering that gay escorts can make a nice living he decides to sign-up. The only problem is Andrew is 100% straight. Yet when his first client, closeted politician Cormac Donovan, starts to stir up some unexpected feelings the lines between escort and client, business and pleasure begin to blur.

Also please disregard the terrible cover, I promise the story is much better!

2. Beauty Queen by Julia London

When Rebecca Lears husband leaves her for another woman her perfect world comes shattering down around her ears. Determined to make a fresh start she heads to Austin and begins volunteering for a friendpolitical campaign. There she meets Matt Parrish one of the toughest litigators in Texas - and a notorious heartbreaker. Passions soon rise as the two clash over campaign strategies, can this former beauty queen prove once and for all that she’s worth more than her pretty face?

1. Party Lines by Emma Barry

Coming in at number one Party Lines by Emma Barry! A book I have previously reviewed on my blog, but for now just a quick summary.
It’s not personal - it’s politics.

At least that’s what Michael Picetti (Democrat) and Lydia Reales (Republican) keep telling themselves as they follow their respective candidates around the country during the presidential campaign. Both are determined that opposites don’t attract even when casual flirting escalates to so much more. But can two people on opposite sides of the political spectrum truly live happily ever after or will party loyalty always come first?

Happy reading everyone and see you next time!
